SMU Mustangs running back Kendrick Raphael is skyrocketing up NFL Draft boards after a dynamic season, raising the question: Can SMU become a launching pad for transfer running backs seeking pro careers? Raphael’s powerful running style, impressive stats, and increased exposure have put him firmly in the draft conversation, while his journey from NC State to Cal and now to SMU highlights his relentless drive. The conversation focused on underrated contributors like tight end Randy Pittman, whose clutch catches and red zone presence have made a huge impact despite modest raw numbers. Key themes include how SMU’s roster construction—thanks to savvy transfer portal pickups—has created a perfectly fitting offensive scheme. The discussion explored the upcoming Syracuse matchup, breaking down the Orange’s quarterback situation with Steve Angeli and spotlighting wide receiver Amani Hatcher’s role in their high-volume passing attack. How will SMU’s chemistry and evolving strategy shape their push for ACC dominance?
